About our Forest School
Our regular sessions at Bell Heath include Little Explorers for children aged 0 to 5 years, Home Education Forest School, After School Club, and Forest School Club for children aged 8 and over. Each session is warm, welcoming and child-led, with gentle encouragement and plenty of space for children to grow in confidence, independence and imagination. For families in Rubery, Down in the Forest offers a joyful outdoor space where children can make friends, get wonderfully muddy, take healthy risks, slow down and feel at home in nature. We also run our Forest School Holiday Club from our Alvechurch site during the school holidays. Come and join us down in the forest, just a short drive from Rubery.

In the 1970s and 80s, as the education system gravitated towards a more teacher-centric approach focused on outcomes, particularly in numeracy and literacy, there emerged a shift. This period saw the inception of the national curriculum. In response to this trend, the 1990s witnessed a surge in alternative educational models, within which Forest School found its place.
